I recently gave a talk to an Entrepreneurial Bootcamp in my hometown. My focus was on marketing and branding. I spoke on the process I went through turning a simple gag cartoon website into an online money making cartoon logo business. My brand is that of a Sneaker Wearing Entrepreneurial Cartoonist Internet Guy. I use that description on all of my marketing along with showing my fun, outgoing personality. I’m upbeat and put forth a controlled amount of energy. People looking for funny, cartoon logos will be more likely to give me a shot because I relate to that type of style and design.
Below are a few more highlights I gave during my talk:
1. A great name and logo are crucial but only a small part of your branding.
2. Your personality and reputation are an important part of your brand.
3. Be known for something remarkable.
4. Give your clients something to repeat and talk about.
5. Create video “How To’s” describing your product or service.
6. Use social media but don’t get bogged down with it.
7. Be consistent.
8. Blog about your business.
9. Work at something you love and would do 24/7.
10. Perfect your art and the money will come.
I will go into more detail on these points as time goes on. The important thing is to get busy today! Start creating your brand immediately and it will stick with you throughout your career.
Much success!
