Start A Music Teaching Studio
by Curtis D. Tucker
Turn your musical talents into profit. If play an instrument you could easily turn those talents into a teaching opportunity. Teaching kids can be very profitable and very rewarding.
Begin by advertising to parents and posting ads at schools and recreational locations. Start with one student have them spread the word for you. Viral marketing in this business could save you from having to spend any marketing money at all.
Possible costs involved would be the instruments, music books, rent and advertising. Teach your students the history of their instrument, how to hold it, how to clean it, how to tune and how to play. If you don't think you are an expert on your instrument just teach beginner classes.
What if you don't have a musical bone in your body? Be an entrepreneur! Start your own studio by bringing talented musicians together with interested clients. You provide or rent the studio space and market the business while studio musicians come in to teach your students.
Advertise for both musicians and people looking for lessons. Once you have enough interest you can start matching the two together. Your studio could be unique because it could be teaching lessons on multiple instruments.
You could also advertise online, start a blog and even teach with podcasts. You could use YouTube to display videos of you playing or teaching and market those to your client base.
You could also research and teach young bands how to become better bands. Teach them the business side of being a musician and help them learn the ins and outs of travel, set up and booking the right gigs. You could even become a part time manager/promoter.
You might even start a local service brokering lessons. You could build a system that brings teachers with students and charge a nominal fee. Think outside of the box! The Internet has opened new doors never even imagined before. Use every resource at your disposal and create your own great music business.
